Kapalabhati Pranayama (Skull Shining Breath)

This energizing pranayama clears mucus, sharpens mental focus, and stimulates agni (digestive fire). It is especially effective for reducing Kapha's sluggish and heavy qualities, bringing clarity and vitality to both body and mind.

How to Practice:

  1. Sit comfortably with your spine tall and shoulders relaxed.

  2. Take a deep inhale through your nose.

  3. Begin with a sharp exhale through your nasals, then allows for a passive inhale. Repeat at your own pace in a rhythmic exhalations through your nose by actively contracting your abdominal muscles (the inhale will happen passively).

  4. Focus on the active movement of your abdomen with each exhale while keeping your chest and shoulders still and at ease.

Repetition:

  • Start with 20–30 breaths per round, followed by a deep inhale and exhale.

  • Perform 2–3 rounds, increasing the number of breaths as your practice develops.

  • Avoid this practice if you are pregnant, menstruating, or have high blood pressure.
