Balancing Vata & Kapha Through Seasonal Diet, Lifestyle & Daily Rituals

Live on Zoom | Recording Available

November 30, 2026 | 6:00pm – 7:15pm (MST)

Join us for a 75-minute Living Rituals gathering devoted to preparing the body and mind for winter through the wisdom of Ayurveda.

As autumn gives way to winter, the natural world begins to slow down. The days grow shorter, temperatures drop, and the qualities of coldness, heaviness, stillness, and moisture become increasingly present. Ayurveda teaches us that these seasonal changes influence our bodies and minds, inviting us to adapt our daily rhythms, nourishment, and self-care practices accordingly.

Winter is a season influenced by both Vata and Kapha doshas, depending on the climate, environment, and time of year. Early winter may carry the cold, dry, and mobile qualities of Vata, while later winter often brings the cold, damp, heavy, and stagnant qualities of Kapha.

Understanding these distinctions allows us to respond to the season with greater awareness, recognizing when we need more warmth, moisture, grounding, nourishment, movement, or stimulation.

In this gathering, we will explore Ayurvedic seasonal living (Ritucharya) and how to support our health and well-being throughout the winter months. We will discuss the importance of seasonal diet, digestive strength (Agni), daily routines (Dinacharya), and simple rituals that help us maintain balance as the environment changes.

Together, we will explore:

  • The Ayurvedic understanding of winter and its seasonal qualities

  • How Vata and Kapha manifest during different phases of winter

  • Recognizing signs of Vata and Kapha imbalance

  • The relationship between winter, digestive fire (Agni), and seasonal appetite

  • Ayurvedic dietary recommendations, warming foods, spices, and seasonal nourishment

  • How to adapt daily routines and self-care practices for colder weather

  • The role of movement, rest, sleep, and warmth in supporting winter balance

  • Simple Ayurvedic rituals to incorporate into your winter routine

  • How to honor winter as a season of restoration, reflection, and rejuvenation

Ayurveda reminds us that living in harmony with nature does not mean following the same routine throughout the year. It means learning to recognize the qualities present within ourselves and our environment, and responding with the appropriate care.

Winter offers a unique opportunity to slow down, turn inward, nourish our deeper tissues, and cultivate resilience. Yet it also asks us to remain attentive to the balance between rest and movement, heaviness and lightness, stillness and circulation.

By the end of our gathering, you will have a deeper understanding of how to navigate winter through an Ayurvedic lens, along with practical dietary and lifestyle tools to support your well-being throughout the season.

An invitation to move into winter with greater intention, nourishment, and connection to the rhythms of nature.

Tiered pricing allows those with greater financial ease to support access for others.
